National Campaign against Gender-Based Violence observed at Shopian

SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 25: The National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) Shopian, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian, today observed the National Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence at the District Mission Management Unit (DMMU) office.


The event, held in conjunction with Self-Help Group (SHG) members, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of eliminating gender-based violence and promoting a culture of equality and respect.


Uzma Mehraj, District Programme Manager, NRLM Shopian, emphasized the need for collective efforts to address gender-based violence and ensure a safe and supportive environment for all.


Deputy Chief (LADC) Rafie Ahmad, DLSA Shopian, highlighted the legal provisions and support services available for victims of gender-based violence.
The event featured interactive sessions, awareness rallies, and pledge-taking ceremonies, reaffirming the commitment to ending gender-based violence and promoting women’s empowerment.


During the event, several issues pertaining to women were discussed, and on-the-spot resolutions were provided. Some of the issues addressed included harassment and domestic violence, property and inheritance rights, access to education and healthcare, economic empowerment and livelihood opportunities.


The event featured interactive sessions, awareness rallies, and pledge-taking ceremonies, reaffirming the commitment to ending gender-based violence and promoting women’s empowerment.
