National-level camp for NCC cadets organised in Srinagar
Srinagar, Jun 15 (PTI) A national-level camp for NCC cadets was organised here to foster the spirit of national integration, said an official on Thursday.
The camp was organised by the NCC group headquarters in Srinagar at the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) regimental centre in Rangreth on the outskirts of the city here.
The camp saw the participation of NCC cadets from all the states and union territories of the country.
“This is the start point of the national-level camp of the NCC called ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’, special national integration camp,” Group Commander, NCC Group Srinagar, Brigadier K S Kalsi, told PTI.
He said the NCC organises several training activities and camps for the cadets.
Six such camps are organised pan-India. Srinagar has been the traditional venue of this camp every year. These camps aim to foster the spirit of national integration in the cadets coming from various parts of the country, Brigadier Kalsi said.
NCC has got 17 directorates. Today, our cadets have come from each state and UT of the country. While they are here, they will exchange ideas with each other, they will showcase diverse cultures through group songs, dances, national integration awareness programmes, games, debates and quizzes, he added.
The cadets said such events help them understand the culture and diversity of various states.
“I came here to experience national integration, the diversity in India. There are so many cultures. India is so huge, but I will be able to experience that diversity in this one camp. I am so happy and eager to enjoy this camp,” Cadet Lamboikin Sinsun from the NCC’s NER Directorate, said.
She said camps like this are very useful for youth, adding, “They will be able to know culture of different tribes and different religions”.
