National Road Safety Week begins at Budgam
DC flags-off Car rally; stresses on strict adherence to traffic rules
BUDGAM, January 11: Marking the Observance of National Road Safety Week from January 11- 17, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid today flagged-off a car rally from DC Office Budgam to New Bus Stand, here.
Among others, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ex. Engineer R&B Budgam, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Executive Officer (MC) Budgam, Dy. Sp Traffic, NGO, Transporters, Students of Educational Institutes and Drivers also took part in the inaugural function.
Inaugurating the National Road Safety Week-2023, the DC who is also Chairman District Road Safety Committee stressed on strict adherence to traffic rules.
He emphasized on safe driving and urged the general public to ensure they take all precautions for safety of themselves and others on the road.
The car rally passed through the main market Budgam displaying Road Safety related messages on banners.
On the occasion, the ARTO office also raised awareness of precautionary measures to be taken by drivers and pedestrians through a mobile van.
The rally culminated smoothly at the new Bus Stand Budgam. Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad (ARTO) Budgam thanked all participants, departments for extending their support in organizing the event.
He said that we lose many precious lives every year in our country due to Road Traffic accidents and many more are permanently disabled. There are alarming figures as such India stands committed to bring down fatalities and Road Traffic Injuries and one such way is by spreading awareness about Road Safety measures by organising these events.
