“Nayab Singh’s cabinet has brought three major reforms for OBCs in Haryana”: Amit Shah
Mahendragarh (Haryana) [India], July 16 (ANI):Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said that Haryana Government has taken three important decisions for the welfare of Other Backward Classes pertaining to reservation.
“Nayab Singh’s cabinet has brought three major reforms for Haryana. The first is that it has been decided to increase the creamy layer limit from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, providing 8% reservation to Group A and 5% to Group B in Panchayats and Municipal Corporations,” Amit Shah said while addressing Pichhda Varg Samman Sammelan’ at Mahendragarh.
The announcement by the BJP comes months ahead of the Haryana Assemly elections 2024.
The Haryana Assembly Elections are to be held this year on 90 Assembly seats. The tenure of Haryana Legislative Assembly is scheduled to be end on 3 November 2024.
Accusing the Congress of being anti-backward classes, Amit Shah on Tuesday lauded the efforts of PM Modi for providing reservations to OBC and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for increasing the annual income limit for the creamy layer of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
Taking a jibe at the Congress party and former chief minister Bhupinder Hooda, he said, “When elections are announced, then only, Hooda Sahab talks about OBC.”
Referring to former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi for “opposing” for OBC reservation, the Union minister Shah said, “In 1957, the Kaka Kalelkar Commission was constituted to review the reservation for OBCs, but Congress didn’t implement its suggestions for years. In 1980, Indira Gandhi put the Mandal Commission aside for years, and in 1990, former PM Rajiv Gandhi Ji spoke for 2 hours 43 minutes to oppose the reservation for OBCs.”
He said that Prime Minister Modi has provided constitutional rights to the OBC society by giving constitutional recognition to the OBC Commission.
Shah said, “For the first time, PM Modi has given 27 percent reservation in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Sainik Schools and NEET examinations.”
Citing Prime Minister Modi’s first speech in Parliament that this is a government of Dalits, poor and backward, the Home Minister said that his party has given the country its first strong Prime Minister who comes from a backward class.
He also mentioned that out of 71 ministers in the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Modi, 27 are from Backward Classes, including 2 from Haryana.
Praising the works done by Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini and highlighting the BJP as a backward-class well-wisher, Shah stated, “…Nayab Singh Saini’s cabinet has taken three decisions. First, increasing the creamy layer income limit from Rs 6 Lakhs to Rs 8 Lakhs…Second, a decision has been taken to change the reservation in Panchayats. 8 percent reservation was allocated for Group A in panchayats, now 5 percent reservation for Group D will also begin from today, which will benefit Haryana’s public on a larger scale. Third, in Municipal Corporation, a 5 percent reservation for Group B will begin and the 8 percent reservation will remain as it is…All these 3 decisions implement the policy of PM Narendra Modi.”
Adding to it, he further said, “But the Bharatiya Janata Party, under PM Modi’s leadership, not only recognized the OBC Commission but also made reservations for OBCs constitutional. Along with it, PM Modi also gave 27 percent reservation to OBC students in Sainik School, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Schools, and NEET Exams. PM Modi also increased the limit of creamy layer.”
Shah further stated, “Congress party has given nothing to Haryana instead of corruption and casteism. BJP has the way from the “ease of doing corruption” to “ease of doing business”. Their governments sometimes indulged in corruption or sometimes in hooliganism. BJP has given the government which works towards the development of all regions in a similar manner.”
Assuring CM Saini will work towards the welfare of the state, Shah asserted, “A man from a poor family and a backward class was made Chief Minister of Haryana and under the leadership, Nayab Singh Saini will work towards the welfare of the state.”
