NCC Unit of GCW Udhampur observes ‘Rashtriya Yuva Diwas’
UDHAMPUR, January 14: 7 NCC unit, 1 J&K Girls Battalian NCC, Srinagar of Govt. College for Women, Udhampur, under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, observed National Youth Day, also known as Rashtriya Yuva Diwas, today.
National Youth Day is observed annually on January 12th to honour the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. The theme for 2023 is “Viksit Yuva Viksit Bharat” which emphasises the role of the youth in developing India.
To celebrate the day, NCC cadets of the college performed different yoga “asanas” (postures). The yoga session started with stretching and warm-up exercises. Principal of the college, Dr Monika Sharma, in her address to the cadets, emphasised the importance of yoga in maintaining a healthy body and mind. She also urged the cadets to take good care of themselves, which can be achieved by practising yoga.
50 cadets participated in a yoga session, which was coordinated by Incharge ANO Shallu Jasrotia. The session was led by HOD of Music, Dr Seema Sharma, and Assistant Professors and Prof Yash Kumar, who also highlighted the importance of yoga and the benefits it brings to the body and mind.
