NCW holds ‘Gender Sensitization for Police Personnel’ workshop in Manipur
Imphal (Manipur) [India], July 27 (ANI): The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Saturday held a workshop for about 200 police officers in Manipur. The focus was ‘Gender Sensitization for Police Personnel’ at the Manipur Police Training College, Pangei.
The workshop covered four key sessions: effective handling of crimes against women, stress management and life skills, gender sensitization, and handling cybercrime cases against women. Resource persons included Renuka Mishra, DG, Uttar Pradesh; Saloni Prabhakar, Psychologist; Ritesh Nangia; and Keshav Kumar, Cyber Expert, who shared their valuable insights.
The NCW Chief highlighted the importance of gender sensitization in the police force to address women’s issues and emphasised prompt action in response to recent gender-based violence in Manipur.
In a separate event jointly organised by NCW and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Development in Ahmedabad, NCW chief Rekha Sharma raised awareness regarding the threats social media platforms pose for women and also highlighted the ways to ensure justice for the female victim in society.
Sharma at the event expressed her opinions and said that women are 50 per cent of the population, and they must contribute 50 per cent to the GDP.
She mentioned that her objective is to inspire women. Adding to that, she said that we talked to many women and inspired them to become entrepreneurs. We organised such events in every state and the Union territory. Such initiatives won’t be stopped here, but we will take them forward. As per the thinking of PM Modi, we will work on enhancing women’s capacity.
Addressing the same event, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi raised awareness regarding the threats social media platforms pose for women and also highlighted the ways to ensure justice for female victims in society.
The NCW chief and the Gujarat Home Minister hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking women-friendly steps.
