New Districts Committee meets with Women Representatives of Leh District

Leh, November 18: The New Districts Committee convened a meeting with Women Representatives of Leh District at DC Office Conference Hall today. The meeting was chaired by Sh. Pramod Kumar Jain, IAS (Retd.) alongside members Sh. Kacho Asfandyar Khan, IAS (Retd.), Sh. Tsering Angchok, IAS (Retd.), and the Deputy Commissioner Leh Santosh Sukhadeve (ex-officio).

During the meeting, women representatives from various organisations, departments and communities presented their views, demands and suggestions such as women representation at political platform with reservation of seats for women, Equal Property Rights for women, formation of LAHDC in every new district with reservation of seats for women and formation of district legal service authority in new districts for awareness of legal rights.

Other important points raised were transportation facilities for women specially in evening, washroom facilities for women, trauma centre for every district, skill development programs for various skills, development of power project in which women can help, shelter for victims in domestic abuse, access of micro finance to women, self help groups in tourism, involving women in culture preservation.

Chairman NDC Pramod Jain assured that various important and pressing points were raised during the meeting. He mentioned that some of these points pertains to the District Administration and added that the Deputy Commissioner will take note of it. He also added that other important points such as demand for pro women governance initiative, pro women facilities, pro women awareness on legal rights and other points which pertain to the committee will be carried forward in the report to be submitted further.

The meeting was attended by women representatives from various organisations, schools, centres, departments and other backgrounds of Leh district.
