NIT Srinagar conducts pledge ceremony in observance of Vigilance Awareness Week

Essence of integrity, and accountability must resonate throughout our institution: Director

SRINAGAR, October 30: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, Monday, conducted a pledge ceremony in observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, 2023. This vital event took place simultaneously across all departments and centers within the institution.

This year, Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed from 30th October to 5th November 2023 on the theme “Say no to corruption; commit to the Nation”.

The primary objective of the ceremony was to reaffirm their commitment to eradicating corruption by fostering a culture of accountability and responsibility. The participants pledged to uphold the highest standards of integrity and adhere to established frameworks for a code of conduct to combat corruption at all levels.

In a solemn gathering at the Committee room, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Sudhakar Yedla, administered the integrity pledge to the office’s staff.

“Today, as we gather to mark Vigilance Awareness Week, we pledge to stand united in our commitment to eradicate corruption from the roots. The essence of integrity and accountability must resonate throughout our institution,” he said.

Prof. Yedla said the fight against corruption is not a one-time effort, but a continuous journey. We must hold ourselves to the highest standards, not just in words but in our actions and decisions, he added.

 Furthermore, the administrative officer’s pledge was conducted by Chief Vigilance Officer NIT Srinagar Prof. (HAG), GA Harmain. The event was graced by the presence of Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari, Deputy Registrar, ARs, and other ministerial staff, who joined in the commitment to promote ethics and prevent corruption within the institution.

To commemorate Vigilance Awareness Week, NIT Srinagar has scheduled a series of events that will continue until November 5th. The lineup comprises expert talks, symposiums, workshops, skits, and awareness campaigns, all designed to promote integrity and ethical values.

Across various departments and centers, similar pledge ceremonies were carried out, with the Heads of Departments and centers leading the charge. Every year Vigilance Awareness Week is observed as an outreach measure to create greater awareness about the importance of integrity and ethics in public life.
