Notorious drug peddler arrested, heroin recovered in Reasi
Reasi Police, under the ongoing Operation Jeevandan against drug abuse, arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered heroin during a surprise check.

The arrest was made at a Naka (checkpoint) in the Sulla area, where Rashid S/O Mohd Aslam and Shajad Ahmed S/O Abdul Aziz were apprehended. A search of their vehicle led to the recovery of 2 grams of heroin-like substance from the dashboard.
An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act, and investigations are underway to identify the source and destination of the drugs. The operation was led by SHO Reasi Chaman Gorka under the supervision of DySP HQ Reasi Neeraj Padyar.
SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma, IPS, shared details of the operation and highlighted Reasi Police’s multi-pronged approach to tackling drug abuse. This includes awareness programs across the district and tegas action against peddlers under the NDPS Act.
An anti-drug helpline number (9070907017) has also been established, with confidentiality guaranteed to callers. SSP Sharma issued a stern warning to drug peddlers, stating they have no place in Reasi and should mend their ways to avoid strict legal repercussions.
