Nowshera Forest Division conducts series of Rudraksh plantation drives to mark Shivratri celebration

RAJOURI, February 18: To mark the celebration of Maha Shivratri, Sunderbani Forest range of Nowshera Forest Division conducted a series of plantation drives at Shiv Temple Gandeh, Dharpur and Lamman and planted Rudraksh Trees.

The main drive was conducted at Gandeh Shiv Temple in which Member DDC Sunderbani, Rajinder Sharma along with a number of devotees planted Rudraksh trees in the temple premises. While lauding the efforts of Nowshera Forest Division, the member DDC Sunderbani said that the Forest department is conducting plantation drives  at  the time of all religious festivals to promote the message of participatory forest management as well as to make people aware about the greening of the environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Neelima Shah, Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera, said that Nowshera Forest Division was dedicated to conduct such drives. She said that under the Green Jammu initiative the forest department is conducting such drives.

Rakesh Verma, Range Officer Sunderbani appealed to the devotees to help the department in combating and preventing Forest fires amid the souring temperature.

The Forest Department needs the help of one and all to manage and control the forest fires.

Similar drives were conducted at Shiv temple Dharpur in which members of the Trust and devotees participated.

In another such drive held at Lamman Temple a large number of devotees participated. The drives were managed by Didar Singh, Rangeel Singh, Rajinder Dev Sharma and Ved Parkash block forest officers with the active participation of field staff. The drive was conducted under the direct supervision of Vivek Verma, Conservator of Forests West Circle Rajouri.
