NSF tribute of 84th Death anniversary of Udham Singh

JAMMU, 31 July: National Secular Forum (NSF) paid tributes to Saheed Udham Singh on his 84th Death Anniversary at University Campus. Amid slogans Udham Singh Zindabad, Inqulaab Zindabad, Bharat Mata ki jai and garlanded the portraits of the son of soil.

Sh Ankush Abrol Provincial Joint Secretary, JKNC was the Chief Guest and Dr Vikas Sharma, Secretary Central Zone and Coordinator Jammu Distt (Urban), J&K National Conference presided over the function. Dr Sukhdev Singh State President NSF was the guest of honour and Mr Vikshay Vashist State Secretary NSF was the Special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Ankush Abrol appreciated the efforts of NSF members to come forward and organize these functions. He also said that the right tribute to Udham Singh would be to launch the struggle for restoration of full status of Jammu and Kashmir State. He maintained that the fight for restoration of statehood to J&K shall be the foremost agenda of the party. “People of J&K have suffered a lot during the past five years since the abolition of statehood.

On this occasion, Zonal Secretary JKNC Dr Vikas Sharma threw light on the life and supreme sacrifices of “Udham Singh”. Sharma said that the real tributes to the martyrs would be eradicating evils prevailing in the society like drug addiction. He exhorted the youth to refrain from drugs and intoxicants.

Dr Vikas JKNC also said that we all should take oath not to sit silent and continue our endeavor to regain Jammu and Kashmir State. He further said that J&K suffered immensely due to misadventures of the Centre. Post abrogation of statehood people here were suffering due to rising unemployment, inflation and discrimination. He mentioned that during the Jenab Omar Abdullah led NC government, jobs were provided to a large number of youth, RTI Act was enacted to eradicate corruption and several other revolutionary steps were taken to push J&K on the path of development. Dr Sharma urged the youth to come together on a single platform to push for this demand. NC would leave no stone unturned to achieve statehood for J&K.

Dr Sukhdev State President NSF, also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the life of martyr Udham Singh was born ‘Sher Singh’, on 26 December 1899. Udham Singh became involved in revolutionary politics and was deeply influenced by Bhagat Singh and his revolutionary group. Udham Singh was hanged to his death on July 31, 1940.
