Observation-cum-Special Home inaugurated in Leh
Leh, June 20: Achieving a milestone, an Observation-cum-Special Home for Leh district by the Office of the District Child Protection Officer, Leh, Social and Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh was inaugurated in a ceremony headed by chief guest Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk in presence of Commissioner Secretary, Social and Tribal Welfare Department, Ladakh, Padma Angmo and Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse.
Addressing the gathering, Dy Chairman, LAHDC Leh added that such a juvenile observation home was the need of the hour. Further, stressing on the effective and efficient functioning of the observation home, Dy Chairman shared that the recruitment and the training of the officers and officials should be prioritised and deliberated as well.
Congratulating all, DIG Ladakh Police expressed his satisfaction over the establishment of the observation-cum- special home in Leh. Though the crime rate is low in Ladakh, the opening of the observation home is a step ahead which would greatly aid in any juvenile related cases, added DIG Ladakh.
Member Secretary State Legal Service Authority, Spalzes Angmo; Chairman, Juvenile Justice Board, Leh, Wangyal Tsering; District Social Welfare Officer, Leh, Nilza Angmo; District Child Protection Unit, Leh officers/officials along with the members of the Child Welfare Committee and Juvenile Justice Board, Leh were also present on the occasion.
