The Odisha Governor has assured the group that he would forward the memorandum to West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose.
The Odisha Governor expressed that the whole country is outraged at the local administration and hospital for the crime and that a delegation has handed him a memorandum condemning the incident. “The entire country is outraged by the negligence of the hospital administration and the local administration in the heinous incident that took place in a hospital in West Bengal. Even the women in Odisha are really disturbed and angry at this incident delegation of sisters. A delegation which is doing its duty of spreading awareness among the people about their citizen rights and duties have handed me a memorandum condemning this incident.”, said the Governor.
“I will send it to West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose and demand strict action so that a timely investigation is done and a decision can be taken on it as soon as possible.”, he added.
The governor also spoke on ‘Nari Shakti’ and that many such similar incidents in Kolkata also happen across India which should worry everyone. He said, “We have been worshipping Nari Shakti since ancient times. We pray for it in the form of Maa durga, maa kaali and maa saraswati. Just like in Kolkata, such incidents happen across the country with nari shakti, so this is a sign of worry”.
Earlier, Bengal Chief Minister had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing concern over the lack of response to her previous communication regarding the rape and murder of the PG trainee doctor.
In her letter, dated August 30, Banerjee emphasised the gravity of the situation and urged for prompt central intervention, highlighting the inadequacy of the reply received from the Union Minister of Women and Child Development.
