One day awareness programme on Green Chemistry & Sustainable Development held at GHSS Jaganoo
UDHAMPUR, February 21: An awareness Programme on “Green Chemistry and Sustainable Development” was today organized by J&K Science Technology & Innovation Council Department of Science & Technology, Udhampur in collaboration with Government Higher Secondary School Jaganoo.
The programme started with the welcome address by the Principal of the institution. He welcomed the resource persons, guests and all participants. About 100 participants including faculty and students participated actively in the programme.
Shruti Khanna, District Co-ordinator, JKSTIC, Department of science & Technology apprised and inspired the young budding students about several achievements in Science and familiarized the gathering about the initiatives, particularly of the science & technology department .She added that the main objective of the day was to popularize science among students and provide awareness regarding How green Chemistry emerged a new approach in the sustainable development.
Guest Lectures were delivered through power point presentations by Dr. Ritika Mahajan, Department of Chemistry, Govt, Degree College, Ramnagar and Tarsem Singh, Principal Govt. Higher Sec. School, Ramnagar.
They highlighted how green chemistry represents a very promising niche in the development of environmentally friendly processes. They educated the students about this new approach with the potential of changing all the negative impacts and to restore the planet Earth’s sustainable development.
The message of the awareness programme was to resolve to make good use of science and the necessity of everybody’s contribution in the progress of the country.
