One day Seminar on hazards of Drugs abuse held at Poonch

POONCH, OCTOBER 18: To combat the rising issue of drug addiction among the youth, Department of Social Welfare Poonch organized a one day Seminar under the banner of “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” here in the Conference Hall of Dak Banglow.

The event was aimed to educate and sensitize students about the perils of drug abuse and the importance of making informed choices.

District Development Commissioner Vikas Kundal was the Chief Guest. In his address, DDC Vikas Kundal highlighted the detrimental effects of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society at large. He emphasized the importance of awareness and enforcement measures in combating the menace.

He urged students to stay vigilant and seek help if they or anyone they know is struggling with addiction.

He further impressed upon the participants especially youth to highlight the importance of creating awareness and spreading knowledge to prevent drug abuse and promote sustainable livelihood.

Dr Shahzad Khan (Medical Officer) briefed the participants through PPT on the psychological and physical repercussions of drug abuse. He stressed the significance of a supportive community environment in rehabilitation efforts. He also sensitized the participants to desist from taking medicines and health services from any unregistered medical stores and medicos.

Experts from the Social Welfare and Education department, other resource persons and students from various educational institutions delivered an effective lecture on the topic besides interacting with the participants.

ADC Poonch, CMO Poonch, CEO Poonch, Principal GDC poonch, DSWO and other Senior Officers were present.
