One day training on canopy management held at Khaltse

LEH, March, 14: A one-day farmer training and demonstration programme regarding canopy management practices for fruit trees was organised by the Department of Horticulture Leh at sub-division Khaltse.

Former Chief Horticulture Officer, Manzoor Ahmed Bhat was the technical expert. He practically showed the techniques and asked the farmers to adopt such techniques in their own orchards, so that standard size with quality fruits can be grown in the coming season.

Chief Horticulture Officer, Leh, Chewang Punchok, and Horticulture Development Officer Khaltse, Dr. Stanzin Angmo interacted with the farmers to further follow the canopy management practices in fruit trees for higher production.

Around 170 farmers from fifteen villages of Khaltse subdivision participated in the program which included Sarpanch and Goba members of the adjoining village. Besides, Farmers Producers Organization (FPO) staff members and progressive farmers also participated in the training program.
