One Day Yoga Workshop Organized at Kathua Campus, University of Jammu 

KATHUA, June 16: NSS Unit of Kathua Campus, in collaboration with the Students welfare Kathua Campus University of Jammu :organized One Day Yoga workshop at the Campus under the banner of AzzadikaAmritKaal to commemorate the upcoming International Yoga Day 2023 and as a part of Common Yoga Protocol(CYP) launched by the Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India for the students of Kathua Campus and U.I.E.T.

The event was held under the patronage of Dr. MeenakshiKilam, Rector, Kathua Campus. In her message, she said that Yoga is a physical, spiritual, and mental practice that has been done by the Indians for millennia and is deeply ingrained in our Indian culture for centuries.

The workshop’s main goals were to lower participants’ stress levels through meditation, raise their health standards, and enable them to function better in today’s cutthroat environment, because it fuels a greater drive to learn and comprehend. Following a series of warm-up poses and stretches, the asanas included Padmasana, Sukhasan, Tadasana, Bhujang Asana Shavasana, etc.  for the benefit of the participants, several asanas for easing tension, lowering back pain, and improving flexibility were also practised.

The goal of the session was to encourage the attendees to maintain their motivation and live a healthy lifestyle by engaging in daily yoga practice.  The workshop provides a comprehensive and all-encompassing approach to the physical, mental, and spiritual health and wellbeing.

DrVivek SharmaAccademic Coordinator, Kathua Campus and Vipassana expert talked about the importance of meditation in daily life.  He said that Meditation is a journey within, where we discover the depths of our being. He also spoke on Vipassana meditation and said vipassana is a traditional Buddhist practice that aims to cultivate insight and wisdom through deep observation of one’s own mind and body. Further said that daily meditation practice helps you with memory and concentration, increases resilience, helps you manage stress better (and) helps you have a positive impact on life.  

The yoga instructor Mrs. Shalini Gupta demonstrated various Yoga postures and pranayam techniques for the well-being of the participants. The workshop was organized under the supervision of Mr. Amit Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, Kathua Campus. He appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers and asked them to spread the importance of Yoga and meditation among their friends and family for the integral development throughout the life. DrPankajKhajuria, Assistant Registrar, Kathua Campus,Er. Sarvadaman Sharma, Er. RakshitKhajuria, Mohit Sharma and other non-teaching staff members of the campus/U.I.E.T. were also present during the programme.
