One Week FDP on Data Analytics through SPSS commences at Dept of Statistics Jammu University

JAMMU, March 13:  The Department of Statistics, University of Jammu is organizing a one-week Faculty Development Program on Data Analytics through SPSS from March 13^th to 17^th, 2023. The program is being conducted to provide an opportunity for faculty members from different colleges and universities across the country to enhance their knowledge and skills in data analytics using SPSS. 

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Kamal P Patnaik, the Regional Director of the Reserve Bank of India (UT of J&K and Ladakh). Mr. Patnaik shared his experience while addressing the participants on the importance of data analytics and the role of SPSS in the field. In his address, he focused on the importance of the role of faculty in the nation’s development by enriching the knowledge of students. The Guest of Honor for the inaugural function was Prof. Satya Paul, Convenor RUSA and Professor of Chemistry, University of Jammu. Prof. Paul shared the vision of the University on the importance of such faculty development programs in enhancing the knowledge and skills of the faculty members.

Prof. Parmil Kumar, the Convener of the FDP and Head of the Department of Statistics introduced the Chief Guest and Dr. V K Shivgotra, the Organizing Secretary presented the program detail for the next five days which includes the feature lectures, discussions, and practical sessions by renowned experts in the field of Data Analytics. The resource persons for the program include Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Panjab University, Chandigarh; Prof. Gyan Parkash Singh, PHU, Varanasi, Dr. Sushil Sarkar,IASRI, Delhi and Dr. Mukender Singh, Kurukshetra University apart from faculty members of the department.

The Faculty Development Program aims to provide participants with hands-on training in using SPSS for data analysis and interpretation. The program will cover topics such as ANOVA, Regression Analysis, PCA, Factor Analysis, and other relevant topics.

The program has received an overwhelming response from faculty members across the country, and fifty participants will be attending the program. The Faculty Development Program will enhance the knowledge and skills of faculty members in data analytics, contributing to the development of this critical field.

The Inaugural function was attended by many faculty members of the University including Prof. Satnam Kour, Convenor UTSAAH and Professor of English, Prof. K S Charak, Head, Department of Mathematics and others.

Ms. Ableen Kaur, a Research Scholar of the Department, anchored the program, adding an extra layer of professionalism and poise. Dr. Sunil Kumar presented the vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, resource persons, participants, and specially Prof S K Pandita , Director ,HRDC ,University of Jammu for collaborating with the department in organizing this FDP.Dr. Kumar extended thanks to everyone else involved in making the program a success.
