Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla called on people of J&K to lend unwavering support to the Congress.Speaking during a public meeting, he stressed the importance of the upcoming Elections and encouraged people of J&K to mirror their steadfast support during forthcoming elections. He cautioned against neglecting the duty to vote, pointing out that every uncast vote is an indirect gain for the BJP.He firmly asserted that the nation’s stability and peace depend on the Congress taking the reins of power. He highlighted Congress’s track record of formulating development plans with the people’s interests at the forefront.

Describing labour class people as back bone of the development and economic progress of the country, Bhalla said that party is committed for their welfare. He said “Congress is committed for the welfare and to protect the rights of labour class people of the country.” He said that Congress party has its existence in more than six lakh villages across the country and represents all sections of the society and is always committed to protect the rights of the working class who are the back bone of the India’s economic progress and overall development of the country. He said that UPA government had brought land mark legislation to the benefit and protect the rights of labour class in the organized and unorganized sector. He said that all beneficiary labour laws were applied in J&K during the Congress regime.

Bhalla asked party men to take care of aggrieved people and ensured their support to them to accelerate the economic development and equal participation of labour class in the economic activities. He said Congress is the only party which listens to the problems of the people. He also said the people J&K are determined to teach the BJP a lesson in the upcoming elections. He said that the people’s issues must be addressed in a time bound manner by those who have the power to do so. Bhalla said the Government of India (GoI) has failed to address the legitimate aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “The BJP government has failed to live up to the spirit of accommodation and reconciliation towards the realisation of the legitimate political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding, ‘Today democracy in J&K is facing onslaughts from no other than the ruling party itself.”

Bhalla said that all the people have their issues, which are related to their day-to-day problems, some societal and other developmental issues.” The people have little choice when it come to approach to a right person or the genuine office for the prompt disposal and hence it becomes the duty of the concerned person, especially the designated department official, to immediate provide relief to those who have approached the office with high hopes,” he said. He said that the Congress, as a public party, has built up robust grievances redressal mechanism at the party headquarters, where people approach with their issues.

Bhalla added, “Ideally the political and ideological difference should have been put aside while dealing with a sensitive region like that of ours. The major stress of the government should have been to assuage the miseries of our unemployed youth who regrettably have grown up in conflict. The need of the hour called for the adoption of a magnanimous approach to give our youth new hope and rescue them to safe shores, but nothing substantial is being done by the incumbent central and  LG government to achieve that end.”Bhalla said compelling narratives of progress, modernity and development justifying its “unconstitutional” actions in J&K have fallen flat and that the “aggressive” policies of the ruling BJP towards the region have hurt its development path and its economy.

Bhalla said “the ruling BJP was on a mission to disenfranchise J&K people with its selective policies and a coterie of federally-appointed officers, bereft of democratic bearings, calling the shots. The so-called Naya J&K of BJP, besides being low on the democratic mooring is also opposite to the idea of Naya Kashmir propounded by the Congress government,” Bhalla said, adding, “The downpour of fresh investments, job extravaganza, and infrastructure amplification is nowhere visible on the ground. Far from delivering on much-touted development promises, the people of J&K are continuously being denied their rights, and having a popular government in place is one of them.”
