Open routes to POJK shrines for DPs, other devotees: Ravinder
JAMMU, April 13, 2023:– Former MLC & Chief Spokesperson JKPCC Mr Ravinder Sharma has demanded that GOI should make concerted efforts for the opening of route to major shrines of the POJK refugees & other devotees through Jhanghar , Nowshera.
In a statement JKPCC Chief Spokesperson and a senior refugee leader Mr Ravinder Sharma raised this issue in a letter to the Prime Minister, stating that there are several original shrines and Guru Gaddis of POJK refugees and others in POJK like Bawa Beeram Shah ji, Guru Gaddhi Bawa Kanshi Gir ji, Guru Gaddi Sant Baitryan wale (Sher Swari) , Guru Dwara Ali Beg and others, revered by lakhs of followers, who had to migrate due to raiders attacks & massacre of 1947.
Like reverred Sharda Peeth, all these shrines of Hindus and Sikhs are centuries old and are reverred by the followers of guru Gaddis. Every year on the eve of Baisakhi and it’s following days, the followers of these Gaddis assemble in thousands for religious prayers at the various relocated places of these Gaddis like in Sunderbani -Banpuri Jhanghar, Bagnoti, Lamberi, Gadigarh, Mendhar, Poonch , Ban Nagrota, Deradun , Jagadri, Ambala etc
The GOI must exert pressure on Pakistan to allow devotees to have darshan of original shrines located in POJK. The GOI had agreed to our request in the year 2012 to take up the matter at appropriate levels and on the initiative of the Congress president Prof Saif uddin Soz, when he visited Sant Sunder Singh Gurudwara at Nonial Nowshera on 25th Dec, 2012.The GOI should revive the move at the earliest, he demanded.
