Opposition’s hue & cry over death of criminal Atiq disturbing: Kavinder

JAMMU, April 17: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta slammed opposition parties for making unnecessary hue and cry over the death of hardcore criminal Atiq Ahmed in UP’s Prayagraj, terming the trait disturbing.

In a statement issued to media persons, the BJP stalwart leader castigated those criticizing Yogi Adiyanath Government over the issue of killing of Atiq and his brother, while interacting with the media persons. He said that UP Government has taken the steps which are supposed to be taken in such kind of cases and the probe is very much underway to find out the truth behind the killing of the criminals Atiq and his brother.

Kavinder said that the opposition accusing the Yogi Government over the killing of Atiq is unjustified as criminals of such gravity do have enemies all around and cases akin to the same are not a new thing. He said that Yogi Government has initiated the investigation and soon everything will become clear as already arrests have been made in the case. He said that opposition parties coming to conclusions is not fair at all because things will only become clear after the completion of probe.

He however said that it is unfair to support the hardcore criminals and raise fingers on elected government of the Uttar Pradesh. He said that BJP won’t allow opposition to create a situation out of this incident to have a political mileage because prima facie this is just another case of criminals being eliminated by their enemies. He said that like all other cases the UP’s BJP government will ensure that the perpetrators of this crime will also be taken to task and for this probe is underway and soon the things will become clear.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Sikh community headed by Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, President, BJP Minority Morcha, J&K called on former Deputy Chief Minister at his residence and demanded implementation of minority commission in J&K. The members of Sikh delegation urged the senior BJP leader to prevail upon the government to set up a minority commission in the UT on the lines of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) to safeguard the interests of minorities in J&K. The delegation also raised other issues pertaining to the Sikh community before the senior BJP functionary.

After listening to the demands of the visiting delegation, Kavinder assured to highlight the demands before the concerned quarters for early redressal. He said that BJP Government at the Centre is committed to resolve the issues of minorities including the Sikh community on priority basis and anticipated that the demands raised in the meeting will be also be fulfilled sooner than later.
