Organ Donation Awareness programme organised in GMC Udhampur 

Jammu And Kashmir State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) organized an Awareness Programme for organ donation for faculty, students and paramedical staff of GMC Udhampur in association with the Department of General Surgery. 

Principal GMC Udhampur, Prof Dr Mrityunjay presided over the event and welcomed the SOTTO team and special guests, Col R Venkat Narayanan, Reconstructive Surgeon and Col Priya Taank, Eye Transplant Surgeon, Command Hospital (NC) Udhampur.
 Head, Department of Surgery Prof Dr Neeraj Koul was the chief organiser of the event.
Head of Urology GMC Jammu cum Nodal Officer SOTTO J&K, Dr Elias Sharma delivered a lecture on Human Organ Donation and Transplantation explaining the dire need for Cadaveric Donation in India so  that organs are available to save many lives and he clarified various myths associated with this.

Joint Director, SOTTO J&K, Dr Sanjeev Puri gave a brief presentation about the National Organ Transplant Programme (NOTP) under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He also encouraged the audience to participate in Organ Donation Pledge Drive under Ayushman Bhav.

Irfan Ahmed, Transplant Coordinator, SOTTO explained the sequence of events occurring in a cadaveric organ donation.
The event was anchored by Assistant Prof Community Medicine, GMC Udhampur, Dr Sujata Gupta.

A painting competition was also organised for Nursing students on the theme of organ donation. Winners were: Sahaj Kour & Kritya (First ), Divanshu (2nd) and Akansha (3rd).
