Orientation cum Training Programme on Inclusive Education held at SCERT, Jammu
JAMMU, JANUARY 4: A one-day Orientation cum Training Programme on Inclusive Education (Children with Special Needs) was organized by Inclusive Education Cell of SCERT, Jammu Division at SCERT, J&K, Divisional Office, Jammu.
The programme aimed to promote inclusive education and provide educators with the skills and knowledge needed to support children with special needs.
Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary School Education, inaugurated the event in presence of Professor Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director SCERT, Ashok Sharma, Director School Education, Jammu. Professor Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director SCERT, Jammu and Dr. Rohnika Sharma, Director CRC Jammu.
Suresh Kumar Gupta, while addressing the gathering, provided insights on the importance of inclusive education and the role of educators in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment in Schools. He discussed about the World Braille Day History and stressed upon the passion and effective implementation of NEP at grassroots level.
The event was marked by the official release of vision documents prepared by SCERT, J&K, Divisional Office Jammu.
Arti Gupta, Assistant Professor, SCERT, Jammu briefed about the suggestive vision document prepared by the Department of Teacher Education on “Revitalising Morning Assemblies: Fostering Unity, Inspiration and Growth” aimed to instil important values as enshrined in Indian Constitution among the students. It will ensure that the Morning Assemblies serve as important platforms for the holistic development of students as envisaged in NEP 2020.
An overview of Balvatika Workbooks for Pre-School I, II and III was presented by Dr. Sanjeevani Sharma, Head ECCE-Department, SCERT, Jammu.
Pawan Vivek, Senior Academic Officer, SCERT, Jammu, sensitised the gathering about “Mera Gaon Mere Pathshala” guidelines for Mapping of Local Areas and School History. Bhalwal, Academic Officer, SCERT, Jammu, briefed about “Suno Kahani”.
An engaging presentation about inclusive education was delivered by Dr. Rohnika Sharma, Director CRC Jammu followed by enlightening sessions by renowned experts in the field of inclusive education. Dr. Aksa, Associate Professor GCW Parade Jammu, deliberated on ‘Identification of Children with Special needs’ and Neha Kalra, District Resource Person Samagra Jammu shared her experiences on supporting children with special needs in inclusive classrooms under RPWD-ACT.
Sukriti, a remarkable student resource person pursuing her Master’s degree in Mathematics, despite living with special needs, delivered an inspiring and thought provoking address.
The valedictory function was presided over by Prof. Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director SCERT, and Raj Kumar Chadda, Coordinator Samagra Shiksha J&K.
