Orientation/ Training programme on Development of Seed & Seed Multiplication Chain inaugurated
SRINAGAR, February 28: The Joint Director Agriculture extension Kashmir Mohammad Sayeed Peer today inaugurated orientation cum training programme on development of seed and seed multiplication chain under holistic development of agriculture at Agriculture complex Lalmandi Srinagar.
Addressing the participants of the training programme, the Jt. Director Agriculture highlighted the potential for development of seed and seed multiplication chain in the region.
He said for the development of this sector the UT government has approved a multi-crore project to boost seed production in the region. He said the project is aimed to increase production, productivity and to attract more and more educated youth towards this sector.
The Jt. Director asked officers of the allied departments to work in coordination so that the desired results under different projects could be achieved in a comprehensive and time-bound manner.
He also asked the officers to ensure that the concerned farmers (seed producers) are made aware of the schemes and programmes of the government for the promotion of seed production in the UT of J&K.
Joint Director Agriculture inputs Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Water use specialist Nelofar Qureshi, Divisional Seed Certification officer Ab Hameed Shah, District Agriculture Officer, officers of Agriculture and Allied Departments were present in the programme.
