Pan-India Cinema Actor Vishakha Singh addresses KCPS Students
Vishakha Singh, a versatile Indian actor turned film producer and startup entrepreneur, known for her multi-faceted contributions to the world of entertainment, shared her views with students of KC public School on the Round Square ideal of leadership on the morning of October 16.
She embarked on her cinematic journey in 2007. Having established herself as a pan-Indian actor, her notable performances include films like ‘Fukrey’, ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’, ‘Bajatey Raho’, ‘Ankur Arora Murder Case’, ‘Kanna Laddoo Thinna Aasaiya’, ‘Fukrey Returns’, and ‘Rowdy Fellow’. However, her passion for storytelling extended beyond acting, leading her to venture into film production. As a film producer, she has been instrumental in bringing critically acclaimed independent films to life.
Projects like ‘Peddlers’ (Cannes Film Festival, 2012), ‘Haraamkhor’ (New York Indian Film Festival, 2014), ‘Onaatah’ (National Award, India, 2016), and ‘Atkan Chatkan’ (presented by Academy Award winner A.R. Rahman, London Indian Film Festival, 2020) showcase her commitment to supporting unique and thought-provoking narratives.
Answering questions posed by students on the trials and tribulations involved in leadership roles, she spoke about her experiences as an actor, film producer and start-up entrepreneur, focusing on challenges she faced and dealt with. She made it clear that a leader has to, more often than not, perform the role of a follower first and then rely on the dynamics of teamwork, collaboration and cooperation to lead the team. In answer to a specific question on women in leadership roles, she emphasized the need for breaking away from stereotypes regarding their capabilities and perform their leadership roles with confidence and perseverance.
She concluded her interactive session with students by wishing them great success in their endeavours to develop leadership qualities as students of a Round Square school.
