Patriotic fervor, gaiety mark 76th Republic Day celebrations across Jammu Division
JAMMU, JANUARY 26: Patriotic spirit and festivity mark the celebration of 76th Republic Day Celebration across Jammu Division amid overwhelming participation from civil society, students, men women and children.
At Doda: The 76th Republic Day of India was celebrated with grandeur and patriotic fervor here at the Sports Stadium. The event began with the unfurling of the tricolour by District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Dhananter Singh Kotwal, followed by recitation of the National Anthem by students. The DDC Chairman inspected the Parade in a beautifully decorated vehicle adorned with tricolours and flowers and took the salute of at the March Past comprising contingents drawn from the IRP 5th Battalion, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, Home Guard, JKP, SSB, NCC cadets, JK Police Band and school and college students.
Vice-Chairperson Sangeeta Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harvinder Singh Rana, ADDC Pran Singh, ADC Sudershan Kumar and officers from all line departments attended the celebration.
After extending R- Day greetings to the public, the DDC Chairman highlighted the district’s remarkable progress, crediting Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for ushering a new era of development in Jammu and Kashmir. He congratulated DC Harvinder Singh on receiving the prestigious President’s Award for his exceptional contribution.
The DDC Chairman listed ongoing and completed development projects under PMGSY, educational infrastructure under CSR initiative, and tourism promotion supported by the LG administration.
He assured the public that the Government Medical College in Doda would soon operate with state-of-the-art infrastructure and advanced medical facilities. He further referred to multi-storey car parking and shopping complex coming up in Doda Town and the ropeway project aimed at boosting tourism, and allocation of ₹55 lakh for improving power supply infrastructure
The celebrations featured vibrant cultural performances showcasing the rich heritage of the region. Performers presented Dogri, Serazi, Gojri, Kashmiri, Punjabi, and traditional Bhaderwahi dances like Dheku, wearing traditional attire made from locally woven “pattu.” A prize distribution ceremony followed, recognizing the best parade contingents, cultural performers, officers, police officials, and government employees for their exemplary contributions.
Republic Day celebrations were also organized across the district with equal zeal including Bhaderwah, Thathri, and Tehsils.
AT RAMBAN: Chairperson, District Development Council Dr. Shamshad Shan, unfurled the Tricolor at District Police Lines, followed by the National Anthem.
Local MLA Arjun Singh Raju; Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kulbir Singh, SSP Traffic, Rohit Basotra, ADDC Roshan Lal. DDC Councillors, other civil and police officers, along with civil Society members, school students and staff were part of the celebration.
The Chairperson inspected the parade comprising 17 contingents, drawn from JKP (men and women), IRP, Forest Protection Force, and students from local schools, and took the salute at the impressive march past.
Extending her greetings to the enthusiastic audience, the Chairperson highlighted key developmental milestones achieved in the district. She noted the enhanced travel comfort on the NH-44 with the completion of vital tunnels and viaducts between Nashri and Banihal and congratulated the Indian Railway for completing work on Katra-Banihal rail section under the USBRL project.
She mentioned about 2,756 rural sector works, construction of 1,418 individual household latrines (IHHL) under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM); construction of 29,060 houses under PMAY-G.
The Chairperson also highlighted achievements in the Health, Education, PMGSY, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, Agriculture and allied sectors.
The celebrations featured a vibrant cultural program presented by local artists and students, showcasing patriotic songs and other themes, which captivated the audience. Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest among participants, and awards were conferred upon outstanding officers, officials, students, artists, and social workers for their exceptional contributions.
Meanwhile, various departments set up stalls to raise awareness about government schemes and achievements. Republic Day was also celebrated with similar enthusiasm in Gool, Banihal and Ramsoo Subdivisions, and other tehsil headquarters and institutions across the district.
AT RAJOURI: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great fervor and patriotic spirit across the Rajouri district. Celebrations were organized at the district headquarters, subdivisions, tehsil headquarters, and panchayats. The main event took place at the DPL grounds, where District Development Council Chairperson, Advocate Chowdhary Naseem Liyaqat, unfurled the National Flag and took the ceremonial salute.
MLA Rajouri, Iftqar Ahmed, and MLA Thanamandi, Muzaffar Khan also attended the National Day celebration Function.
The grand parade showcased contingents from the JKAP, JK Executive Police, CRPF, JK Police Band, JK FPF, SPOs, NCC senior boys and girls, and various schools.
Adding to the grandeur, tableaux from different departments, depicting government schemes and initiatives, were displayed on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner.
Prominent persons present were Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma; DIG Rajouri-Poonch, Tejinder Singh; SSP Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar; ADDC Rajouri, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, along with district heads of various departments, local representatives, and thousands of citizens.
Students from different schools and cultural troupes presented mesmerizing performances, showcasing India’s vibrant cultural diversity. Their energetic dances, soulful music, and creative choreography captivated the audience.
The DDC Chairperson extended warm greetings to the people of the district and highlighted the historical significance of Republic Day. He lauded the district’s developmental progress and emphasized the collaborative efforts of the District Development Council and district administration in implementing various developmental initiatives.
A felicitation ceremony followed, honoring meritorious students, officers, officials, doctors, and social workers for their outstanding contributions to the district’s development and welfare.
AT REASI: The 76th Republic Day celebration was celebrated here at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium with great enthusiasm and zeal. DDC Chairperson Saraf Singh Nag took salute at an impressive parade comprising 19 contingents drawn from Police, CRPF, platoons of NCC cadets, School , besides formation of Police Band.
MLA Shri Mata Vaishno Devi constituency, Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, ADDC Sukhdev Samyal, other officers, besides a large number of civil society members, students and children were part of the celebrations.
DDC Chairperson congratulated all participants for their wonderful performance and gave a brief on various development works in District Reasi.
Deputy Commissioner also congratulated participating students upon best performance with the spirit of patriotism during function and making the celebration a grand success.
ACR Anshumali Sharma, ASP Iftikhar, DySP Neeraj Padyar, DySP DAR Rohit Chahal, DFO, CEO, DSWO, ARTO, Youth Sports Officer, XEN PWD and PMGSY, DIO (Information), and other district officers were also present at the event.
At Kishtwar: The 76th Republic Day 2025 was celebrated today across the District of Kishtwar with great enthusiasm, fervor, and national spirit.
The Chairperson District Development Council Pooja Thakur, unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade and took the salute at the main event held on Historic Chowgan Ground.
The parade consisted of 15 contingents drawn from JK Police, IRP, CRPF, CISF, Forest Protection Force, Home Guard, Girls and Boys NCC Battalion Government Degree College and school children.
The National Flag was also unfurled at the District Court Complex, Police Line, Sub-Divisional Headquarters, Tehsil and Block Headquarters, as well as in all government offices, colleges, and educational institutions.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan; Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Javed Iqbal; CO 52nd Battalion CRPF, DDC members, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal other officers from the civil ad police administration, army, CISF, CRPF, prominent members of society were also present at the occasion.
The event also featured scintillating cultural performances by students, all while adhering to SOPs, which highlighted the spirit of nationalism and patriotic zeal.
The main highlight of this year’s program was the presence of Samridhi Sen (Singer) UT Awardee for Arts and Tavishi Anand International Dance Gold Medalist shared the dias as the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign invitees.
Addressing the gathering, Chairperson DDC congratulated the people of Kishtwar on this auspicious occasion of national importance.
Remembering the contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and others in framing the Constitution of India, the Chief Guest urged everyone to uphold constitutional values and ethics in letter and spirit, emphasizing that this day holds great significance, as India became a Secular, Sovereign, Socialistic, and Democratic Republic on this day.
The Chief Guest highlighted the achievements under flagship schemes, good governance initiatives, particularly in the tourism and educational sectors with special reference to the far-flung areas of Dachhan, Marwah, Warwan, Bounjwah, Paddar and Chatroo Blocks. She also congratulated the people of Kishtwar and the Chief Election Commission J&K for the historic achievement of an 80.20% voter turnout in the recent General Assembly Elections of 2024.
