Pawan Khajuria meets Dr Jitendra Singh to discuss issues of Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, March 24: Pawan Khajuria, J&K BJP Vice President today met Minister (Independent Charge) Udhampur/Doda Parliamentary Constituency Dr. Jitendra Singh in PMO and discussed in detail about different problems of Udhampur.

Pawan Khajuria discussed the problems faced by the students of Jammu and Kashmir studying in Delhi through scholarship in front of Dr. Jitendra Singh.

Khajuria said that our students have to face many problems. The students have to leave their studies in the middle and come back due to no hostel arrangement for them. He urged them to make a JK hostel for the students of Jammu and Kashmir in Delhi so that these students can complete their studies by staying in the hostels.

He further informed that around 3000 students of Jammu region are doing M.Sc in Environmental Science from IGNOU. There is no IGNOU Study Center for MSc Environmental Science in the Jammu region. MSc Environmental Science students from Jammu region have to travel long distances to reach Kashmir Division for doing practicals, which is a great inconvenience to them. Keeping the above points in mind, he is requested to kindly take up the matter with the concerned department to start M.Sc Environmental Science in IGNOU Study Center of District Udhampur. It is the central point and is easily accessible to all the students.

Pawan Khajuria further said that the National Law University for Jammu was sanctioned in 2010-11 but its classes have not started yet. Apart from this, approval was given for Sampark Kranti Train from Delhi to Udhampur, later it was taken up to Katra. However, it stops at Udhampur only for 2 minutes, due to which many people miss the train due to overcrowding. Placing the demand of the people of Udhampur in front of Dr. Jitendra Singh ji, he said that the stay time of this train should be extended, so that the local people can reach their destination on time.

Further, he also put other problems of Udhampur in front of him, in which he gave information about water, road and sewerage projects going on in Udhampur.

Showing keen interest to address the issues raised by Pawan Khajuria, Dr. Jitendra Singh immediately talked to the concerned ministries and asked them to solve these problems soon. Lamenting the sewerage project, Dr. Singh asked the concerned authorities to complete this work as soon as possible and asked to visit Udhampur soon.
