Pawan Sharma criticized Omar Abdullah’s government for hiking bus fares and fuel prices in J&K

Jammu, April 02 :Pawan Sharma, a senior BJP leader and former state secretary, has strongly criticized the Omar Abdullah government’s decision to increase bus fares for men by 7% and hike diesel and petrol prices by ₹2. This move comes under the guise of providing free rides to women in government buses. Sharma argues that this move is contrary to the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sharma alleged that this decision is a clear case of cheating and injustice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “The government’s attempt to appease one section of society by burdening another is unacceptable,” he said.

According to Sharma, this decision will disproportionately affect the common man, who is already struggling to make ends meet. He demands that the government reconsider its decision and explore alternative solutions that do not place an undue burden on the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.

It’s worth noting that fare increases are often implemented to keep pace with rising costs and inflation. However, the timing and magnitude of such increases can have significant impacts on commuters, particularly those who rely heavily on public transportation ¹.

Sharma’s statement highlights the need for policymakers to carefully consider the potential consequences of their decisions on the lives of ordinary people. As the government moves forward with its plans, it will be important to monitor the impact of these changes and make adjustments as needed to ensure that the needs and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are being met.

The BJP leader also questioned the timing of the decision, alleging that it was a desperate attempt by the government to divert attention from its failures. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir will not be fooled by such tactics,” Sharma said. “We will continue to fight for their rights and interests.”
