Pawan Sharma Voices Concern Over Exploitative Practices by Private Schools in J&K
Senior BJP leader and former State Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir, Pawan Sharma, has raised serious concerns over the exploitative practices being adopted by several private schools across the Union Territory during the current admission season.

Sharma condemned the imposition of exorbitant fees under various unjustified categories such as building maintenance, development charges, and transportation fees, calling them an unnecessary burden on already stretched household budgets. “These additional charges go beyond reasonable limits and exploit the aspirations of parents who seek quality education for their children,” he stated.
He further highlighted the concerning trend of some schools disguising the full admission fee as an “annual charge”, thereby bypassing regulatory scrutiny. Sharma also pointed to unethical collusion between certain schools and select stationery vendors and uniform sellers. “Parents are being forced to purchase books, uniforms, and other materials from specific shops, limiting their choice and inflating costs unnecessarily,” he added.
Calling for immediate intervention by the concerned authorities, Sharma urged the administration to ensure transparency, accountability, and strict regulation of school fee structures and associated practices. He reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to standing with parents and promoting a fair, accessible, and quality education system in Jammu and Kashmir.
