People in different parts of world have accepted Yoga as integral part of daily life: Amit Shah
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 21 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah performed Yoga on the occasion of International Day of Yoga, in Ahmedabad on Friday and said people in different parts of the world have accepted Yoga as an integral part of daily life.
He performed yoga at Gotila Garden in Ahmedabad on the occasion of International Yoga Day.
The Home Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has played a very big role in popularising Yoga internationally. He added that yoga reflects the essence of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
“Yoga is India’s gift to humanity and the world…The world has accepted Yoga…Today, more than 1 crore people practised Yoga…PM Modi played a very big role in providing a big platform for Yoga. Yoga reflects the essence of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” Shah said addressing the event.
Taking to X, the Home Minister called Yoga a “precious gift” of Indian culture, adding that PM Modi has made it a subject of global consciousness through International Yoga Day.
“Sarve santu niramya…Yoga is a precious gift of Indian culture, which Prime Minister Shri @narendramodiji has made a subject of global consciousness through International Yoga Day. Today the whole world is not only celebrating Yoga Day, but has also accepted yoga as an integral part of daily lifestyle. Practiced yoga at Gothila Garden (Ahmedabad) on the occasion of International Yoga Day,” Shah posted on X.
Several ministers also participated in different yoga events across the country.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari performed Yoga in Nagpur, Commerce and Inudstry Piyush Goyal participated in the Yoga event in Mumbai.
“The way PM Modi encouraged the whole world towards Yoga, its effect can be seen all over the country and the world. In North Mumbai, it was pouring down heavily. Thousands of people came out and performed Yoga,” Goyal said.
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav practised Yoga at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy in Dehradun.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande along with the personnel of the Indian Army performed Yoga in Mathura.
“I would like to extend my wishes on the occasion of International Yoga Day 2024. It is being celebrated throughout the world with great fervour. It is a matter of pride that the world has adopted this cultural heritage. The reason for its popularity is that it has become a symbol of a healthy lifestyle,” Rajnath Singh said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led celebrations of the 10th International Day of Yoga at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar on Friday.
Since 2015, the Prime Minister has led the International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations at various iconic locations, including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru and even the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
