“People of Cooch Behar will bless us again,” says BJP’s Nisith Pramanik

Cooch Behar (West Bengal) [India], March 22 (ANI): After filing his nomination from Cooch Behar Lok Sabha constituency on Thursday, Union Minister & BJP leader Nisith Pramanik expressed his faith in the people of Cooch Behar.

“The people of Cooch Behar have blessed us earlier as well with both their hands, they will bless us again. We’ll try to reach as many people as we can to seek their blessings,” said Pramanik.

Hitting out at the Trinamool Congress, he said, “Everyone knows about the post-poll violence and the violence during the 2021 elections, NHRC has submitted its report too and on that basis it was seen that West Bengal has the most number violence. TMC starts its violence from Cooch Behar.”

He further demanded heavy deployment of paramilitary from now on, especially in the border villages.

“Known criminals should be isolated… West Bengal has more than 350 km of unfenced boundary. The Central govt has asked the State govt for the land that is to be fenced, time and again, but they (the State government) have done nothing in this regard,” he slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government.

He stated that we’ll report to (Election Commission of India) ECI regarding border issues adding to which he said, “Will ask them to keep more focus on border areas.”

Earlier on Tuesday night, BJP supporters led by Union Minister Nisith Pramanik and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters led by North Bengal Development Minister Udayan Guha locked horns in Dinhata, resulting in injuries to supporters on both sides.

The police had to resort to lathi charge to control the situation. A sub-divisional police officer was injured in the incident. The Trinamool Congress has called for a 24-hour bandh in Dinhata on Wednesday.

Governor Ananda Bose, after visiting Cooch Behar, said that the police have been given instructions to provide adequate security to the people here and added that necessary action will be taken to ensure that people live in peace and harmony.
