Plant Clinical Camp organised at Budgam
BUDGAM, July 20: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Budgam in collaboration with IFFCO today organized a day-long plant clinical camp at Qazibagh.
Around 100 farmers from the area participated in the said camp. Besides, the programme was attended by Scientists of Kendra, experts from Div. of Soil Science, Div. of Entomology SKUAST-K, officials from the line departments, and representatives from IFFCO.
The purpose of the programme was to discuss and deliberate about the issues faced by the farmers related to the horticulture, field and vegetable Crops for their on-spot redressal.
Senior Scientist and Head KVK Budgam, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone discussed the role of KVK in insect pest and disease management of crops. He further stressed upon usage of new technology and social media for management of insect pests and diseases by getting advisories from the concerned scientists.
Dr Vaseem Yousuf (Scientist Plant Pathology) also replied to the pertinent queries raised by farmers.
During the programme free of cost pea seed was distributed among the farmers. Scientists also visited the farmers’ field for on the spot assessment and recommendation for redressal of the problems.
Dr. Shakeel A. Mir discussed the soil sampling techniques from orchards and other crop fields. Dr. Shafiq Hakeem deliberated upon the apple leaf miner with management practices.
