“PM is right, all straws of broom have scattered”: Delhi BJP President ahead of assembly polls

New Delhi (India), February 2 (ANI): With less than a week left for the assembly polls, Delhi BJP Delhi president Virendraa Sachdeva criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), stating that it has become “AAP-da” in the national capital.

He said, AAP government unity has scattered, referencing the Prime Minister’s statement that the straws of the broom, AAP’s party symbol, have scattered, on Sunday.

On Sunday, the Delhi BJP president referred to the fragmentation of AAP’s unity, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier remark that the straws of the broom (symbol of the AAP party), have scattered.

Speaking to ANI, Sachdeva said, “Aam Aadmi Party has become AAP-da in Delhi. The prime minister has rightly said that all the straws of the broom (symbol of the AAP party) have scattered.”

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence that the BJP would form the next government in Delhi.

Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party, he took a swipe at its symbol, the broomstick, stating that even before the Assembly elections, the party appeared to be facing defeat due to mass resignations. He said, “Jhaadu ke tinke bikhar rahe hai” (Parts of the broomstick are splintering).

Just days ahead of the February 5 elections in the national capital, eight MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have stepped down from their posts. Their resignations come after they were denied tickets to contest the upcoming polls.

Addressing a public rally at New Delhi’s RK Puram today, PM Modi said that similar to the change of weather ushered in with the arrival of Basant Panchami, Delhi will herald a “new spring of development.”

“In a few days, a new spring of development will arrive in Delhi. This time, the BJP government is about to be formed in Delhi. The ‘AAP-da party’ has wasted 11 years. My biggest request is that we should be given a chance to serve the people of Delhi. I promise to go to any length to remove every difficulty you face,” said PM Modi.

PM further added, “A double-engine government will come to Delhi that will make the lives of every poor and middle-class family prosperous.

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled to take place on February 5, while counting of votes will be held on February 8.
