PM Modi to inaugurate Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express Train on April 19; Inspect world’s highest railway bridge

Sahil Pandita: In a significant boost for development and tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Jammu and Kashmir on April 19. During the visit, he will inspect the world’s highest railway bridge, “The Chenab Bridge”, before heading to Katra to flag off the much-awaited Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express Train.


This signifies a major milestone in the region’s rail connectivity, bringing Jammu and Kashmir closer to seamless travel with the rest of the country. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh confirmed the visit, stating that while the train will initially operate from Katra due to ongoing construction work at Jammu Railway Station. However, the service will be the start point for the train will be brought to Jammu once the work is completed, which is likely to be completed by August this year.
Security Arrangements in Place.
Being the importance of the visit, security agencies have already been placed on high alert. The Special Protection Group (SPG), in coordination with Jammu & Kashmir Police and Paramilitary forces continuously reviewing security arrangements on the ground to guarantee maximum security. —- Other preparatory steps are being undertaken by J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat in cooperation with the other agencies.
As per reports, Katra and Udhampur are both expected to have several layers of security with heavy patrolling and monitoring in place. Along the railway route, special security routines are being conducted to guarantee a hitch-free Railway event.
PM Modi’s upcoming visit is set to give a significant lift to tourism and economic activity in the region, showcasing the Government’s dedication to enhancing infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
