Police and civil administration launch drive against illegal poppy cultivation in Baramulla villages
In a collaborative effort, police and civil administration officials launched a special drive to eradicate illegal poppy cultivation in two villages of Baramulla.
The target areas for the operation were Gund Khawaja Qasim Pattan and Watergam Kreeri. Teams comprised of police personnel and civil administration representatives conducted searches and identified fields where poppy plants were being grown illegally.

The police and civil administration teams destroyed poppy fields spread across these villages. Further investigations are underway to identify the individuals and networks behind these activities, and efforts are being made to ensure that such practices are permanently eradicated from the region.
The police and civil administration have reiterated their commitment to maintaining a drug-free environment in Baramulla and have warned that strict action will be taken against those found involved in illegal poppy cultivation.
