Police apprehend two drug peddlers in Sopore, Baramulla; seize narcotics and cash

In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Sopore Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Post Bus Stand headed by IC PP Bus Stand SI Basit Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS and SHO PS Sopore Insp. Nissar Ahmad at a checkpoint established at MRF Chowk Model Town Sopore, intercepted one motorcycle bearing registration number JK05F-7415 along with two persons.

During the search, 216 capsules of SPASMOPROXYVON Plus, 70 grams of contraband charas-like substance, and cash 36000 were recovered from their possession.

On preliminary verification, they disclosed their identity as:

1. Rayees Ahmad Sheikh S/O Khazir Mohammad Sheikh R/O Seelo Sopore and,

2. Siraj ud Din Parray S/O Mohammad Mukhtar Parray R/O Parrypora Hadipora Sopore.

In this connection, case FIR No. 70/2024 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore & investigation has been initiated.

Sopore police urge the common masses to give information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112.

The General Public is requested to cooperate with the police in curbing the menace of drugs in society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
