Police arrest 6 drug peddlers, Contraband substances recovered in Baramulla & Kupwara

SRINAGAR, 12 May 2023: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police have arrested 6 drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kupwara districts. Police also recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Police party during patrolling at Dhobiwan Kunzer intercepted 2 suspicious persons who tried to flee from the spot but both were apprehended.

During the search, 225 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Khanday resident of Utikoo & Sahil Ahmad Lone resident of Ferozpora Tangmarg. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Meanwhile, a police party of PS Handwara arrested 4 drug peddlers including a juvenile, while patrolling at New Bus Stand Handwara in Kupwara district. They have been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Dar resident of Braripora, Moomin Masood Qureshi resident of Zargar Mohalla Handwara, Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Herpora Handwara and a juvenile (name withheld).

During the search, 338 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession.
