Police arrests drug peddler in Sopore, seizes contraband in ongoing anti-narcotics drive

In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Sopore Police have arrested one drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A police party of Police Post Warpora headed by IC PP Warpora PSI Bilal Rashid under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri. Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS and SHO PS Sopore Insp. Nissar Ahmad at a checkpoint established at Chinar Crossing, intercepted one person who tried to flee from the spot but was caught tactfully by alert nafri.

During his search, 110 grams of contraband charas-like substance was recovered from the accused who has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat S/O Ghulam Qadir Bhat R/O Jalal Abad Sopore.

In this connection, case FIR No. 48/2024 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore & investigation has been initiated.

Sopore police urged the common masses to give information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112.

The general public is requested to cooperate with the police in curbing the menace of drugs in society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
