Police orders closure of liquor outlets in Hyderabad, Secunderabad in view of immersion of Ganesh idols
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 13 (ANI): To maintain public peace and tranquility during the final immersion of Ganesh idols, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand has ordered the closure of liquor outlets in the twin cities from 6:00 AM, September 17 to 6:00 PM, September 18 in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Establishments to remain closed are wine/toddy shops. Bars (excluding those in star hotels and registered clubs), bars attached to restaurants, according to the official notification.
The order, issued under Section 20 of the Telangana Excise Act, 1968, aims to prevent any potential disturbances during the immersion process.
All the SHOs and Additional Inspectors of L&O Police Stations of Hyderabad city are hereby authorised to take appropriate legal action against those who violate this notification, the notification added.
Ganesh Chaturthi, a 10-day festival, will continue until Anantha Chaturdashi. This festival is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi.
