Police recover 70 Kg Poppy Straw in Ramban

RAMBAN, 7 July 2023: Police foiled a narcotics smuggling bid near Naka Shan Palace, Ramban, and recovered a Poppy straw-like substance. During routine “Naka checking”, a team of police station Ramban signalled one Truck bearing registration no JK-22-A-7997, which was coming from Kashmir towards Jammu, to stop for checking. The driver of the truck stopped at the Naka.

During checking, 70 kg of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from the above-mentioned Truck. On enquiry, the driver of the Truck disclosed his identity as Shakeel Ahmed Bhat R/O Chaki Haji, Tehsil – Keygam District- Shopian. In this regard, a case stands registered at P/S Ramban, and an investigation is set into motion.

The overall recovery was made by the Police party of Police Station Ramban under the overall supervision of SP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
