Poonch Admin launches drive to combat Worm Infections among Children
PONCH, August 10: Marking a significant initiative on National Deworming Day, a drive was today launched in District Poonch to conduct de-worming among children in the 1 to 19 year age group through medication.
The campaign aims to eradicate worm infections among children and ensure their healthy future. The event commenced with a grand inauguration ceremony held at Government Girls High Secondary School, Poonch, in the presence of District Development Commissioner, Yasin M. Choudhary , PO ICDS, Khalid Hussain Wafa; Chief Medical Officer, Dr Anees Altaf Nabi; Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. P.A Khan, and Chief Education Officer, Bishamber Dass.
The inauguration marked the beginning of a comprehensive deworming drive that will span across health institutions, both government and private schools, and Anganwadi centers in the district. The primary focus of the campaign is to administer Albendazole tablets to children aged between 01 to 19 years, effectively combating worm infections and promoting their overall health and well-being.
District Development Commissioner, Yasin M. Choudhary (IAS) expressed his commitment to the cause and emphasized the importance of deworming in ensuring a healthier future for the children of Poonch. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the health institutions, government and private schools, and Anganwadi centers in implementing the campaign effectively.
The campaign will continue until the 17th of August 2023, which has been designated as the mop-up day.
During this period, similar initiatives will be organized across the district to reach the maximum number of children and provide them with the necessary deworming treatment.
The District Administration, along with healthcare professionals and education authorities, is dedicated to ensuring the success of the campaign and maintaining the well-being of the younger generation.
