Poonch: Education Department launches plantation drive for Academic Session 2025-26
Over 150 Trees Planted by MS Dhant Zone Kanuyian
POONCH, APRIL 18: In a commendable move to promote environmental awareness and ecological responsibility among students, the Education Department has launched a plantation drive as part of the new academic session 2025-26. As part of the initiative, more than 150 saplings were planted by the students, staff, and School Management Committee (SMC) members of MS Dhant, Zone Kanuyian.

The drive was held under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, aiming to connect students with nature while honoring the emotional and environmental value of trees.
Chief Education Officer Iftikhar Ali Shah Kazmi said that the plantation drive is not just about planting trees; it is about planting hope and awareness. “We aim to educate our students and the wider community about the vital role the trees play in maintaining ecological balance. Initiatives like these instill a sense of responsibility and connection to nature in young minds.”
District Nodal Officer of the campaign, Darshan Kumar stated “It was heartening to see enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and SMC members, all coming together to plant trees under the campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. This activity strengthens the bond between humanity and nature, while also creating lasting memories rooted in environmental consciousness.”
The Education Department plans to continue similar activities throughout the year to reinforce the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
