Poonch: RTA approves 79 MUMKIN Scheme cases, sanctions 9 Minibus permits

POONCH, APRIL 04: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal on Friday convened a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) at his Office Chamber to discuss and strategize seamless public transport services in the district.

The meeting addressed different aspects of public transport, with an emphasis on reviewing applications for road permits.

The meeting assessed and approved 79 MUMKIN Scheme cases, paving the way for applicants to own small commercial vehicles at subsidized price. Additionally, the meeting sanctioned 9 mini bus permits. However, it rejected all 9 applications for auto rickshaw permits, with a directive to promote the use of e-rickshaws.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the necessity of conducting feasibility studies for the operation of mini buses on the newly approved routes, instructing the relevant authorities to collaborate with the District Transport Inspector (DTI) to prepare comprehensive reports.

To address traffic congestion in the city, the DC, in his capacity as Chairman of the RTA, assured the provision of parking space for Tata Magic vehicles. He also urged the concerned officers to ensure proper traffic regulation and take necessary actions against violators, reaffirming the commitment to maintaining order on the roads.

In a compassionate gesture, DC Vikas Kundal presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to road accident victim Parambir Singh, providing immediate support to his family.
