Post Article 370 Abrogation, Film Premiere Marks a New Dawn of Peace in Kashmir: Dr Tahir Choudhary

JAMMU, April 19: BJP spokesperson Dr. Tahir Choudhary lauded the film premiere in Kashmir as a “historic milestone” that reflects the sweeping positive changes in the Union Territory following the abrogation of Article 370 under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Highlighting the return of cinematic culture to the Valley, Dr. Choudhary said that the successful hosting of a Bollywood film premiere in Srinagar is a symbol of restored confidence, peace, and progress under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

“Such a grand film premiere on Kashmiri soil reaffirms how far we’ve come. This would have been difficult to imagine under the earlier circumstances. It is only because of the decisive and bold step to abrogate Article 370 that Kashmir today stands at the threshold of a new era — one defined by peace, growth, and national integration,” he said.

The grand red-carpet premiere of Ground Zero — an action thriller starring Emraan Hashmi — was held at Inox Srinagar on Thursday. The film, inspired by a real-life BSF mission and set in Kashmir, marks the first premiere in the Valley in 38 years and drew widespread attention from across the film fraternity and media.

Dr. Choudhary emphasized that this cultural revival is part of a larger transformation happening across Jammu and Kashmir.

“From infrastructure to investment, from tourism to technology, every sector is seeing a resurgence. The return of cinema to Kashmir after decades is not just an emotional moment — it is an economic and cultural opportunity,” he noted.

He also commended the people of Kashmir for their resilience and the administration for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere that enabled such events to take place seamlessly.

“Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Kashmir is no longer seen through the lens of conflict, but through the prism of potential. This film premiere is proof that peace has returned, and with it, a vibrant cultural and cinematic future,” he added.

Dr. Choudhary urged the Indian film industry to consider Kashmir not just as a scenic backdrop but as a full-fledged production and premiere destination.

“I invite more filmmakers and producers to explore the new Kashmir — peaceful, beautiful, and full of promise,” he said.
