Post Office Superintendent dies by suicide after CBI raid
Bulandshahr (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 21 (ANI): Post Office Superintendent T.P. Singh allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday after a CBI raid in Bulandshahr Main Post Office regarding a corruption investigation.
The Superintendent allegedly died by suicide in Aligarh, his home district. After being questioned by CBI for hours, the Post Office Superintendent reached Aligarh where he allegedly took this drastic step and posted a suicide letter in the WhatsApp groups he was part of.
T.P. Singh, posted as the Superintendent of Post Offices in Bulandshahr division, Uttar Pradesh died by suicide and left a note detailing the reasons for taking this drastic step. Singh took over the post in Bulandshahr in 2021.
The letter dated August 21, 2024, addressed to the Senior Superintendent of Aligarh Police names multiple office colleagues for allegedly harassing and putting undue pressure on Singh. “There has been constant pressure to get work done and there have been several complaints”, read the letter.
The letter by Singh also held certain individuals being directly responsible for his death. “I am fed up with the above-mentioned people after being constantly pressured by them”, the letter added.
The CBI raided the main post office late in the evening, with the investigation lasting several hours and the agency officers questioned multiple people.
Multiple documents that were deemed important for the investigation were also seized by CBI during the raid. Additionally, Post Office Superintendent T.P. Singh was also interrogated till 4 in the morning by the agency.
The letter by Singh had been posted on the popular instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, allegedly by Singh himself. The letter has since gone viral on the messaging platform after being posted on multiple groups.
