Preparations reviewed for tourism activities in Bangus, other tourist destinations at Kupwara
Stress laid on polythene free Bangus, eco friendly infrastructure
KUPWARA, MAY 20: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, the Chief Executive officer, LBDDA (ADC Kupwara), Gh. Nabi Bhat today convened a joint meeting of officers at TRC Kupwara, here to review the preparations for tourism activities to further boost the tourism potential in Kupwara district.
Chief Executive Officer, Lolab Bangus Drangyari Development Authority (LBDDA) took the detailed review of the activities to be carried out by LBDDA, Tourism department and Forest department throughout the season in Bangus and other tourist destinations of the district.
The meeting was apprised that an action plan of Rs. 2.50 crore have been approved under Capex (tourism) budget for financial year 2023-24 for LBDDA.
The CEO said that the Kupwara has a huge tourism potential which is being brought on a tourism map and tourist footfall in the district has increased. Tourism activities in the district are providing the employment avenues for the unemployed youth of this district.
The CEO said that nature has bestowed Kupwara with scenic beauty, lush green forests and crystal clear waters which provide an enormous potential for tourism related activities and tourism development.
Kupwara district is proving a paradise for trekkers, adventurists, border tourists and nature lovers.
He asked the officers to work with synergy and convergence so that necessary facilities to the visitors are provided.
The CEO said participation of local youth is a basic requirement for sustainability of tourism activities in the district which will provide livelihood to the unemployed educated youth and also provide scope for building tourism destinations in the district.
The CEO impressed upon all the stakeholders to extend their support in upgrading the eco friendly tourism infrastructure.
While reviewing the arrangements being done at famous tourist destination Bangus, CEO directed the concerned officers to start tourism activities in advance at Bangus keeping in mind the increased tourist footfall.
The meeting was informed that 25 Dhocks are being developed at Bangus as homestay under SSSY during the current financial year.
CEO, LBDDA emphasised that polythene and other wastes in any case should not enter into Bangus and directed that Polythene Free Bangus will be ensured by LBDDA with the help of Forest department and on monthly basis cleanliness drive will be conducted.
The general public was requested to help in keeping Bangus Polythene Free “We have to ensure the safe stay, clean drinking water, proper sanitation and cleanliness and other basic facilities for tourists visiting Bangus” CEO said.
On the occasion CEO stressed for exploring adventure tourism and trekking facilities in Kupwara district.
Executive Engineer, LBDDA said that 75 trek routes are functional in the different areas of the district and trekking and adventure tourism activities will increase in coming days.
Review meeting was attended by Executive Engineer LBDDA, Range officer, Langate, Range officer, Kehmil, and other concerned officers.
