Present regime landed JK youth in deep desperation: Dr Vikas

Fight for restoring statehood to J&K is first priority of NC

Jammu, Dec 27: Dr Vikas Sharma, Coordinator District Jammu (Urban) & Zonal Secretary, Jammu Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), today held a meeting with a delegation of youth to deliberate on issues affecting them severely under the present dispensation.

The youth told Dr Vikas Sharma that they were facing the worst kind of harassment under the LG rule as the administration was causing unnecessary delay in the recruitment process. “There is no time frame for completion of the recruitment process. Govt is only advertising and inviting applications for various posts but process is lying pending for years,” they said.

They also blamed the administration for mismanaging the academic calendar in Universities and Colleges. They expressed resentment against the new recruitment rules for universities and colleges.

Dr Sharma patiently listened to the grievances of youth and asked them to strengthen the hands of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Janab Omar Abdullah for getting rid of all the problems being faced by the youth of J&K. He said only NC can understand the ground reality and can fulfill the hopes and aspirations of people as it laid the foundation of the comprehensive and equitable development of Jammu Kashmir.

Now, they want to get rid of bureaucratic rule and waiting for the popularly elected government,” Dr Vikas further said. He maintained that bureaucratic rule is no substitute for the popularly elected government.

He also said, “Under present dispensation, the youth are feeling suffocated and restless due to its anti-youth policies. BJP is dictating terms to LG administration and there is no one listening to grievances of general public”.

He further said that downgrading the status of J&K from state to union territory reflected the mindset of BJP towards its people. “The National Conference is very clear on this issue, we want unconditional restoration of statehood to J&K and that too before Assembly elections,” he added.

Expressing apprehension about BJP’s intention on restoration of statehood, Dr Sharma urged the youth not to lose hope and take command in their own hands to press the Centre for fulfilling their demand.

Dr Vikas also urged the youth to support and strengthen NC in the forthcoming Assembly election.
