UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 01: Principal Government Medical College Udhampur issue rebuttal on news item published in Daily Excelsior on 1-08-2024 wherein allegations regarding poor functioning of GMC Udhampur were levied.


The Principal issued detailed point-by-point response to the allegations published in the aforementioned news item.


He said that the allegations made are not based on factual information and need to be addressed to clarify any misconceptions.


The Government Medical College Udhampur has four dedicated counters for Outpatient Department (OPD) registration, each equipped with a separate computer system. Additionally, there is a dedicated counter for Inpatient Department (IPD) registration and another for the handling of investigations (GRs). This infrastructure ensures efficient and streamlined registration processes for patients.


He further said that a queue system has been implemented to manage patient consultations effectively, ensuring safety and preventing overcrowding in the doctor’s chambers. This system is crucial for maintaining an organized and secure environment, allowing for the smooth functioning of the healthcare facility and safeguarding the well-being of all patients.


The Principal said that the available number of pharmacists at GMC Udhampur are deployed in a manner that ensures round-the-clock coverage. The staffing and duty allocation are optimized to ensure that services are available at all times, thus meeting the needs of patients promptly and efficiently.


He added that qualified orthopaedic surgeons are available to perform spinal surgeries, and the utilization of machinery is optimized. The institution is committed to adhering to the highest standards of integrity and transparency in its procurement processes. All procedures for acquiring machinery and equipment are strictly in line with government regulations, ensuring a fair, accountable, and efficient process.


The acquisition of an MRI machine is planned and is currently contingent upon the finalization of the Rate Contract by the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL).


He said that the procurement process is being conducted in accordance with the established protocols to ensure the provision of necessary medical equipment.
