Progressive Farmers of Shopian receive NPSS App Training at Shopian
SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 04: A training session on the National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS) was conducted for progressive farmers of Shopian district, to familiarize farmers with modern pest management techniques and the innovative NPSS mobile app, at the Kissan Khidmat Ghar Nazneen Pora, Shopian
The event was organized by the Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC), Srinagar, in collaboration with the State Agriculture Department.
APPO (PP), CIPMC Srinagar, DPPQ&S Faridabad, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India provided an in-depth demonstration of the NPSS app, explaining its significance in detecting pests and diseases at an early stage.
He highlighted how the app allows farmers to identify pest outbreaks and disease symptoms in crops, empowering them to take timely and effective management measures.
He emphasized that the app is a powerful tool to ensure crop protection, reduce pesticide use, and enhance yields, all while promoting sustainable agricultural practices
Chief Agriculture Officer of Shopian, SMS (DL) addressing the gathering emphasized the importance of adopting technological tools like the NPSS app to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability. They encouraged farmers to make full use of the app for pest and disease detection, which will ultimately lead to better management practices and increased crop quality.
The training session was attended by the Chief Agriculture Officer of Shopian, SMS (DL) and others.
