Prompt action taken against overloaded Minibus for endangering lives of students
SAMBA, FEBRUARY 05: Motor Vehicle Department Samba has filed an FIR against operator of a Matador (Mini Bus) for blatant overloading and endangering lives of Students.
In a highly concerning incident that garnered public attention, a viral video captured an overloaded minibus, bearing registration number JK21C 0093, plying on the Vijaypur-Ramgarh road on February 3, 2024 . Shockingly, students were found seated on the back stairs of the vehicle, compounding the issue of overloading inside.
Immediate action was taken by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), who swiftly acknowledged the severity of the situation. A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Police Station Ramgarh under FIR No. 11/2024, citing violations under sections 279/336 of the Indian Penal Code, dated 03/02/2024. Subsequently, the vehicle was seized by the Station House Officer (SHO) Ramgarh.
In a bid to ensure accountability, ARTO Samba has issued a notice to the owner of the vehicle, proposing the suspension of the route permit and the driving license of the responsible driver. This decisive action aims to address the grave safety concerns arising from overloading and negligent driving, emphasizing the commitment to safeguard the lives of innocent passengers.
